Answers:

  1. Garfield, of course!  Amongst his love of lasagne and hatred of Mondays, this is his retort to the title of the fourth edition of this comic book ‘Garfield Weighs In’.
  2. Streaky the Supercat was Supergirl’s housecat until he was exposed to a form of Kryptonite which made him super-strong and super-fast;  he could also fly and had human-level intelligence.
  3. This comic series explores issues of slavery, rape, war and oppression in a high-fantasy, matriarchal world.  A young girl, Maika, must fight against enemies but Master Ren, a worldly-wise feline with two tails, had a great desire to help Maika on her journey.
  4. Salem was an orange cat with magic powers, who appeared in the TV series version of Sabrina The Teenage Witch in the ‘90s.  To give him his full name, Salem Saberhagen (an American Shorthair) is a fictional character from the American Archie Comics comic series Sabrina the Teenage Witch.   Formerly a human witch, Salem was sentenced by the Witch's Council to spend 100 years as a cat, as punishment for trying to take over the world.
  5. Everyone knows that cats have nine lives, but Scratch can use each of his eight alter-egos throughout time whenever he chooses. Scratch is an ordinary American housecat, but he’s also been a witch’s familiar, a Pharaoh’s cat, the greatest mouser of the London theater, and he will be a cyborg and a telepath from the distant future. With the help of his various lives, Scratch battles various enemies to save the day in an adorable series that plays with classic cat superstitions through the ages.
  6. Stinky is something of an anomaly in the superhero world, because he has absolutely zero superpowers. In fact, he spends his days digging through trash, drinking from the toilet, knocking things over, and generally getting in the way.   He was adopted by Power Girl after he wreaked havoc at the Justice League but she loves him just the same.  The only way he can battle evil is to scratch, hiss and pounce on the perpetrator - just like an ordinary cat.
  7. Captain Marvel has a feline companion, Chewie. Initially, Carol (Captain Marvel) believed that Chewie was just a normal cat that could keep her company on her adventures, but she then discovered that her furry friend was, secretly, a tentacle-mouthed, egg-laying  Flerken who laid 117 eggs on board her ship.  The 117 Flerken kittens were left at a rescue home but Chewie teleported herself back on board the ship to accompany Captain Marvel on her journeys.
  8. With a distinct crescent moon marking on her forehead, Luna is Usagi’s (aka Sailor Moon) protector. In this Japanese comic (manga), Sailor Tin Nyanko reveals that Luna and her husband, Artemis, are aliens originally from the planet Mau (meaning “cat” in ancient Egyptian), where Luna was a devoted servant to Princess Serenity. After their kingdom fell, Luna and Artemis were sent to earth to protect the Sailor Scouts. Luna has the ability to talk and can transform into her human form in times of crisis.
  9. The Will is a bounty hunter/mercenary who is aided in his job by Lying Cat, a large feline creature with the ability to know when people are lying, which can sometimes work against The Will - as much as it works in his favour.  Like any other cat, Lying Cat likes to be loved, makes funny faces, reacts to her master's voice and feelings, and doesn't like to be ignored. Unlike other cats, Lying Cat can detect when somebody's lying and would either growl or even say "Lying" if somebody does tell a lie, including The Will.
  10. Grumpy Cat’s real name was Tardar Sauce;  she had a genetic disorder called feline dwarfism and developed an underbite which resulted in her looking ‘grumpy’ all the time.  She was in fact, an actual, non-fiction cat but became such a massive hit that Dynamite comics released a series titled The Misadventures of Grumpy Cat, featuring Tardar and her brother, Pokey.
